A quiet practice built around family memory
HomeOur Story
Cairnstead began in Chiang Mai out of a simple observation: many families accumulate boxes of letters, land papers, photographs, and notes over the years, yet rarely find a calm moment to sort through them together. We started as a small group of organizers who wanted to offer households a patient, structured way to bring order to these materials without pressure or urgency.
Our approach borrows its name from the cairn, a simple stack of stones travelers use to mark a path. Each document a family keeps is, in its own way, a stone in that stack, a small marker of where they have been. We help place those stones carefully, so the path stays visible for the next generation to follow.
Our mission is straightforward: to support households in organizing what they already have, in language and formats they can return to for years. We do not offer legal or financial guidance. We offer time, structure, and a steady hand for a task many families keep postponing.

Organizing Family History with Care
Households across Chiang Mai turn to Cairnstead when paperwork, letters, and keepsakes have accumulated over years or generations without a clear system. Our work centers on documentation organization, family conversation facilitation, and general education about record structure, always leaving formal decisions to the household and its chosen advisors.
We draw on years of hands on experience sorting land papers, correspondence, photographs, and personal notes into archives that relatives can navigate long after a session ends. Every engagement reflects our belief that a well organized record is a gift a family gives to itself.
